There is a lot of discussion among Southern Baptists about whether we are a “Creedal” or Confessional” people. In other words, will we tell the people what to believe, or tell what the people believe. While there are many variables to the mind of a Southern Baptist, We at Trinity would agree that one is not a true Southern Baptist if he can not subscribe to a few very basic things. Those things are enumerated in “The Baptist Faith and Message” and we as Trinity Baptist do subscribe to them. If you want to be a Southern Baptist, these things will describe your theology as they describe Trinity’s. While some of the details may be left for one’s opinion, the basic truth is not. After all, there has to be some commonality in order for men to walk together as brothers. Here is a list of the topics outlined in the statement. Each is linked to its full text, just click on it. The Scriptures, God, Man, Salvation, God's Purpose of Grace, The Church, Baptism and the Lord's Supper, The Lord's Day, The Kingdom, Last Things, Evangelism and Missions, Education, Stewardship, Cooperation, The Christian and the Social Order, Peace and War, Religious Liberty, and Family. |
